We are seeking a full-time translator to join our team. The candidate will focus on the translation and revision of content primarily in the following language pairs: English to Maltese and Maltese to English. Other language pairs will be considered based on the candidate’s credentials. The candidate will be working remotely.
Primary Responsibilities
- Translate and revise texts in the following domains: life sciences (including medical and pharmaceutical texts), technical, EU affairs, technology and legal.
- Adhere to all the company guidelines and guidelines from the end-client to ensure the best translation quality at all times.
- Research on the subject being translated in specialised books, EU resources, regulatory agency publications, articles, online tutorials, etc.
- Consult with subject matter experts in order to understand specialised concepts and translate them appropriately.
- Use SDL Trados and the latest software tools to deliver work in the most efficient way.
- Use quality check software (preferably XBench) to ensure consistency and spot common errors.
- Perform other linguistic tasks as needed including but not limited to localisation, transcription, transcreation, subtitling, voiceover, copy/content writing, brand name checking, etc.
Requirements
- Native in Maltese.
- Excellent writing skills in Maltese and English.
- Excellent understanding of another language ideally Italian, German, French or Spanish.
- Excellent translation skills in the following pairs: English to Maltese and Maltese to English.
- A degree in languages preferably in Maltese. The grade must be second-upper or higher.
- Master in Translation and Terminology Studies that provided exposure to technical translations. The grade must be a Pass with Merit or Distinction.
- Self-disciplined and able to meet deadlines set by the Project Manager.
- Meticulous attention to detail where not even a double space goes unnoticed.
- Ambitious, energetic, highly-motivated and with an attitude to get things done.
- Experience with creative content writing would be an asset.
- Experience with CAT tools and the latest translation technologies would be an asset.
